Using Yahoo to find my dad's email password(that he forgot)doesn't get anywhere, why is that?
He's elderly and can't find the note that he wrote it on. So I tried for him and went throught 8 screens of "choose new password" and never got anywhere.Should I start him a new email address each time and clog the server with useless data? Then move on to the next ISP?

Unfortunately you will have to. Your only other option to try to get his password is if he has ever purchased a Yahoo! service or product. You can check out this link to see.
When an account stays inactive for 4 months Yahoo! will close the account. Here is a link to start a new e-mail address.

Usually when you forget your password the system will ask you a question which you can answer or even more certain information that you can answer for him. The deal is for you to remember what the answer is or what the password is in case he forgets.
