The United States and the United Nations?

How can the United States work more effectively within the United Nations? If the US continues to withdraw financial support from the UN, is it guilty of coercion?

For one thing, the United States and the United Nations wil never work effectively until the United Nations starts doing what they are supposed to do on the security counsel. This will never happen because the United Nations' security counsel is made up of countries with opposing views. The Russian, Chinese governments hate that the United States has so much power. These two countries are after the same limited resources as the United States. Take for instance the Sudan problem. China and Russia are main customers of Sudan's oil reserves. They don't want to make the Sudanese government mad because then the Sudanese government could kick them out of their country. This would hurt their economy. So, they will side with the Sudanese government on the security counsel. Since the United States does not get much oil from Sudan, if any at all, this is not a problem for the United States. So, we have a deadlock on the Sudan crisis because the security counsel will not vote in unison on the issue. Sudan can keep on committing genocide because they know that China and Russia will prevent the United Nations from really helping at all. Also, all governments are corrupt. There is not one government on this Earth that is totally honest. The United Nations is full of corrupt individuals from all over the world, and any necessary changes that would help them will be refused by those running the organization. Finally, the United States has to start agreeing with world opinion on some issues, which they have been loathed to do in the Bush administration. The United Nations does a really good job on humaniatarian issues, however, their main objective to prevent genocide is not being met.

The best move for the Untied States is to get out of the U.N.

If anything the UN is guilty of coercing the United States.

Financial support is a political move. Of course it is coersion. Is it justified coercion?

The US does this to many countries that p!ss it off. Why should money be spent to support a country or organization that works against the US.

Get rid of Bush and every Neocon that has ever lived. Then things will work out much better with the UN.

The U.N. is a flawed organization populated by flawed people. Coercion you bet it's the only method of interaction the USA is capable of, bullies is the polities term I can think of.
