There are plenty of apartments for 5 or 6 in the Canaries- especially in Tenerife and Lanzarote.
If your budget is flexible and you fancy a hotel then I'd suggest somewhere like The Beatriz Playa in Matagorda Lanzarote- You can fit a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids up to age 11) in their Junior suites which are very nice, and you can have HB which means it's a real holiday fro mum!
There are also some great deals on 2 x bedroomed apts all inclusive in Lanzarote, try the HL group of hotels or Iberostar- all have family properties ata very reasonable price.
You will definitely be much cheaper booking this independantly- you can do this through an independant travel agent should you not wish to do it yourself but they should package it themselves for you rather that using a major tour operator.
They have some terrific deals- even in school holidays- just book the flights seperately. I've found
http://www.directholidays.co.uk/ really good for flights to the Canaries this year!
I really hope you get something nice- all the best of luck!Source(s): my head

I visit last year Spain with 2 kids and I take interconnecting rooms in the hotels. This is anyway a good idea because sometimes the rooms are small.
Barcelona is definitely the place for a holiday vacation with the kids. A visit to la Sagrada Familia, Parque Guell and the Zoo shall be in the itinerary. Another good place to visit is Valencia. If you go there don't miss La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias a modern acropolis with incredible architecture nice Imax theater and the biggest aquarium in Europe. Check also the America's Cup sailing event in Valencia.Source(s): I love Spain.
