    Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;

    Conspiring with him how to load and bless

    This ^ is personification because it is speaking of conspiring with the sun on how to load and bless and obviously you can't conspire with the sun

    Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn

    This ^ is also personification because, to our knowledge, gnats do not mourn

    I'll help you, but I won't give you the answer:

    In stanza one there are a couple of examples of personification.

    Remember, personification is giving human traits or qualities to something that isn't human.

    People can do many things and we use many words that describe actions considered human. People grow old, people show emotion, people have things happen to them.

    This should give you some hints.

    For example: If I said "the front door groaned" you know that I mean it creaked as I opened it. But a person groans, a door can't actually be conscious of making the sound.
