OK Patrickf... this is not an easy one but let's have a chat.
First of all you really need to give more information than you have. Your printer scanner copier did not print what you told it to.
Did it print anything at all? If NO then check any error messages and act upon them. If Yes, did it print bad colours or leave the picture all stripy? if YES then run the print head cleaning routine and do check prints to see if it is improving the print quality until it is satisfactory again. If this does not improve matters, it could be that the ink cartridge does need replacing (despite what it says in the ink checking routine) unfortunately, these days, the printers are great and very cheap, but you get very (thats VERY) little ink for your money.
If you print best quality pictures, you can use up to 2ml of ink for every A4 colour print - that is a lot.
Above all do not despair. Computing is 90% frustration and 10% enjoyment. But it's 110% elation when you solve a problem.
