Wiki says: "A composer is a person who writes music". So What's the difference between composer and lyricist?

I mean are they the same? or what are the differences between their jobs?

    composers write the tune, the music.

    lyricists write the words you sing.

    put them together and you get a song!!

    Lyracists write the words to a song, like a poem almost, a composer writes the notes for a song. An artist does both.

    A composer creates NEW tunes, and a lyricist will fill in the words to a tune already fully written out.

    i think a composer would write the actual tune or beat of the song and the lyricist would write the words to go with the tune or beat.
