請問soy和soybean兩者的不同

嗯… 課本上遇到這兩個字同時出現

韻文是這樣的:

Roy the boy has soy seeds in the soil.

The soy seeds grow as soybeans.

請問這樣文章中的「soy」和「soybean」如何解釋?

    就以上句子而言,「soy」和「soybean」都是指「黃豆」或「大豆」。

    其實,「soy」一字源自於日文(soyu),意指「醬油」。所以soy亦有指醬油的含義。http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soybean

    值得注意的是,在牛津高階字典沒有soy一字。

    所以較正統的寫法是soybean (美語)或soya bean(英語),而soy則源自日文演變的詞彙也可解之為黃豆。
