If you had the money and intelligence could you fly to the moon legally? Or would you need permission?

I don't believe there are any restrictions on people going to the moon, but I think you'd run into opposition if you tried to claim sovereignty over any significant portions of it.

You would also have a hard time if you wanted to set up mines or manufacturing sites, etc., for the same reasons as above.

Also, if you do make the trip, I wouldn't advise going too near the Apollo landing sites, not that it would be illegal, per se, but you'd tick a lot of people off.

There are a couple of companies that want to land remote controlled rovers on the Moon and allow people to drive around on the lunar surface in real time. They've gotten a lot of flack for suggesting that they would visit the Apollo sites.

    Good luck on your flight!

Do you have sufficient money, then you can. Officially moon voyages are stopped. But still you can go to earth station and come back in 5-6 days. Before going you have to pay huge fee and reserve your seat (i think it is booked for next 5 years) and take rigorous training.

Easy way is buy a big mirror, take it to an isolated place, on a full moon day (make sure sky is clear) keep mirror on ground, make sure you got moons image in mirror, walk on it, enjoy.

No one is there to give such a permission.

The one problem is the lift off, as launching a rocket from most nation's territory is regulated. If you were to launch from the sea, there would not be any problem, but you may need to advertise it, so that airplane flying above would know to avoid the area.

But once in orbit, no one owns the area, and you can do whatever you please.

You don't need the intelligence, just the money. The Sultan of Brunei, and Bill Gates could afford it.

I think it depends on what country you planned to launch from. I think there is some kind of space treaty between certain countries that enacts limitations on space travel.

You would just go,nobody owns it.

Once you did maybe you could demand a visa from anyone else that wanted to go.

Theoretically, yes. You would have to notify the government first. you would also have to be immensly rich.
