An acre is a measurment of area, not length.

Maryland is 7,946,880 acres (12,417 sq mi) in area.

    And it's 249 miles wide

Most people can only think in one dimension.

An acre is 2 dimensional - an area. Like an acre field is about 70 yards by 70 yards.

Three dimensions seems to really throw them:

For instance an elephant is only about 10 times as tall as a rabbit, but is 1000 times the weight.

Hey, if he doesn't know how to word his question that doesn't give you the right to be rude.

Who's to say that maybe he is interested in knowing the area from west to east using acre as his measurement.
