I have rock/ crystals that when hit together 'light up' - what are they?

I obtained two rocks a while ago.

They are white, like quartz but a bit softer. When hit together they glow, brightly, and internally, for a short while.

What are they?

Those are Pizzo Electric Crystals and they are used in making frequency stable oscillators because of their electrical properties.

If they're white they're probably milky quartz. The white colour comes from trapped gas and liquid inclusions and their presence makes the quartz slightly softer than usual. The light is related to the piezo-electric property of quartz and is called triboluminescence.
