The XPS410 from Dell now offers the 8800GTX as an option but they have not changed the 375W power supply. how?

How can they make it work with such PSU?

There is no way for a 375 to support the 8800 gtx, it will require, at least 500 watts, and dual 6 point connectors for it to work, and if you have the qx6700 quad core, you new computer will probably burt into flames. you can go to newegg and buy a really good top of the line PSU for about 150, and will never have a problem.

Well the power supply may be technically sufficient to power the card, especially if they use lower powered processors/other components

One nasty habit of dell is to put one very high powered component in, lower the price drastically and hope people don't notice the rest of the system isn't up to scratch.

Alternatively it may just not provide the performance with lower wattages

Hi. Ask for a PSU upgrade as well.
