Although, interior design, furniture, and art were clearly represent the Art Deco style, architecture was easier to recognize of Art Deco. In the early twenty century of industrization world, new architecture was introduced to demostrate the New World. Art Deco buildings were with highly decoration and dramatic forms, it was characterized by the symmetrical geometric and crisp forms. Robert Mallet-Stevens (1886-1945) helped to promove Art Deco architecture in Europe in 1930s, which effected architects change their style from the decorative form into the simpler form. Many new material and were revealed in architecture, such as glass block, smooth stucco. The most typical architectures of Art Deco were Empire State Building and Chrysler building. A parallel movement style of architecture called Streamline Moderne; Streamline Moderne and Art Deco were not opposite style, Streamline was a branch of Art Deco and it emphasized in curved phrases and long horizontal lines. There were many famous architects of Art Deco, such as Richmond Hood, Henry Hohauser, and William Van Alen. Among these architects, William Van Alen was the most renowned one, his most famous design was the Crysler Building, and he was one of the fist architects using stainless steel on a large building surface.

Art Deco was the main stream style during 1920-1960 in French, its unique character made this style earned a place in many different fields. Althoug, Art Deco has slowly collepsed in 1930s, it has come back after 1960s and still in fashion even now. Art Deco influenced today’s style not only in interior, architecture, and art but also in useful objects in everyday life.

Update:

The streamline shape of automobile is the best example of Art Deco influence. Moreover, the modern style of skyscrapers and simple but elegant apartments has been built recently were also influenced by Art Deco style.

Update 2:

For the fine art, some jewelry industries from today’s society collocated green jade or black agate with golden embellishment and it is also affected by the Art Deco.

There are still too many things influenced by Art Deco style in today’s society, it shows how successful of Art Deco style and how it really impact the world not only in the past but also today.
