In the nineteen-century, the improvement of technology directly influenced the Art Deco style. Designers and artists in this period start to use geometric shape and simple format to instead the organic shape on their design, the most popular patterns were sunray, symmetrical geometric line, shell, and gearwheel and these were been wild used during the Art Deco period. The innovation of faster train and the improvement of technology gave the Art Deco distinguishing characteristic. New style was established by the designs that mixed with machine aesthetic. The usage of the colour was also influenced by the development of technology; the designers and the artists in this period of time were emphasis on bold and vivid colours to represent the booming industry. High contrast of colours was also common shown in most designs in Art Deco period. The improvement of technology was not the only factor that influenced the Art Deco style; many designers and artists from this period were influenced by Egypt, Greek, and Rome. The England archaeologist, Howard Carter, discovered the king Tutankhamun’s tomb in Egypt, the amount of preserved artifacts were unearthed. These preserved artifacts displayed a magnificent and classical art world, which astounded the Europe designers. The ancient Egyptian only used the simple geometric patterns and colours to achieve the highly decoration, which gave a huge inspiration to the designers. After the tomb was been discovered, primitive arts were getting popular in Europe. The themes and historical objects from Egyptian, Roman, Greek and far eastern were be the source material of Art Deco, such as Greek’s column, Egypt’s mortuary objects, and Africa’s woodcarving. They combination of classical influence and modernism created a new style, and put this new concept into different field to bring out the new product to customers.
