The problem with politics is that the public is disgusted with all the lying, deceit, cheating, cronyism, demagoguery and criminal activities that the elected officials are engaged in, and they cover for one another... while benefiting their cronies with lucrative contracts (eg., Halliburten) and the profiteering that goes on and the lack of accountability... those ridiculous over-charges and inflated billing paid with taxpayer monies...
By ensuring us that we won't have to deal with another election where people have to wait on line for hours at one voting site while other voting sites have various unused voting machines.
Also, some assurances must be made against rigged voting electronic voting machines (eg., 2004) AND make sure that ALL votes are counted (eg., Florida, 2000).
It would also help tremendously if laws were passed where ALL politicians were required to tell the truth in campaign promises and ads and in public speeches or be held liable for criminal charges just like other advertisers. Laws should also be passed to so that NO elected official or appointee can refuse to answer questions under oath (as the case right now in Washington).
The public is also tired of politicians that shamelessly give themselves all sorts of raises and fringe benefits (free pharmaceuticals, for example) that the general populace is NOT entitled to. Why do politicians put themselves above the laws, ethics and morals they impose on the general public? That has to come to an end!
Finally, why are politicians put in health spa-like prisons when they are FINALLY caught wrong-doing and NOT in a regular prison with the general population? WHY should they get preferential treatment, as if they were better than the rest of humanity or any other common criminal, getting better food and conditions not made available to other criminals? And, related to this question, why are they NOT required to pay back stolen or ill-gained funds AND pay hefty fines to offset the cost of their imprisonment... it's only fair!
Good luck with your campaign!
