-----Do you mean travel time to Mars, or do you mean how many years/decades will it be before we plant a permanent colony on Mars? The way things are going, I would gesstimate 100 years before we plant a permanent colony on Mars, and that could be optimistic. We have the technology to do it now; it is just hugely expensive. Of course, it will slowly get cheaper; a Moon base would help. ---Jim

We should be sending people on missions in about 50 years. Having colonies has one major problem. The dust is so fine that it will get into all equipment and generators and shut them down. We have to figure out how to deal with the extremely fine dust. We can travel there in about a year, so transport is not a major problem.

Since the Van Allen belt is large and highly radioactive, it will take decades before we are able to safely put humans on other celestial bodies.

Of course, the Apollo program moon landings were a hoax.

It's all dependent on the cessation of religion. It will take all nations to come together in at least peace enough to stop blowing each other up. And that won't happen while ideology exists.

We don't belong on another planet while we are war like.
