There are many credit cards available to people with poor / no credit. Orchard Bank and First Premier are two of the most popular issuers. You'll also have to decide between 'secured' and 'unsecured'. Since you won't pay a security deposit with an unsecured credit card, I would try that first. You can find a complete list here:
Usually, you'll start out with a credit limit of $500. Over time, with regular on-time payments-- the issuer will offer increases to your credit limit. Eventually, you'll be able to apply for 'regular' credit card offers with lower interest rates and less fees.
