show the presence of calcium carbonate

Suggest ONE method you would show the presence of calcium carbonate in a sample of construction material.

    calcium carbonate usually refers to lime stone for building materials


    add acid drops to the material

    if you see bubbles (which would be co2 this case)

    once the process is completed, the material surface would have a dens on where the acid drop were

    show the ions presence in the sample

    (carbonate) add acid to the sample the gas released turn limewater milky

    (Ca) it will show brick red in the non-luminous fume in flame test

    this method is not reliable because hydrogencarbonate can make the same result.
