calcium carbonate usually refers to lime stone for building materials

method:

add acid drops to the material

if you see bubbles (which would be co2 this case)

once the process is completed, the material surface would have a dens on where the acid drop were

(carbonate) add acid to the sample the gas released turn limewater milky

(Ca) it will show brick red in the non-luminous fume in flame test

this method is not reliable because hydrogencarbonate can make the same result.
