How do I get my boyfriend to let me go out with my friends?

Every weekend my boyfriend goes out on Saturday to play poker, it's his away time from our kids. When I ask every once in a while to go out with a friend he always has a fit and I end up not going. How do I get him to understand that I need my away time as well?

By just going. He's going to be mad either way, so just go. I'm sure it's just innocent time with your friends so nothing for him to worry about.
