    No difference in fiber.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, Textile and Wool Act when labeling clothes:

"A few common fibers recognized by the Commission have different names in the ISO standard. For example, the ISO standard uses the name viscose for the predominant form of rayon, and elastane for spandex. You may use either name."

ISO is the International Organization of Standards.

Lycra is Dupont's trademark name. Spandex is the common US term, and Elastane is the term used in the rest of the world.

Did anyone talk about the difference between spandex and... what was the other, elastane? I was just looking at some Levi's with a bunch of elastane and wondered if it held up better. That great little stretch in jeans always poops out after a few washings.

None...depending on the manufacturer, spandex, elastane, & lycra are identical.
