Well actually all of the answerers above me are correct .. the meaning depends on the spelling & pronunciation ..
let me give u some examples to make it clearer for u :
ella = except , spelled (إلا) in Arabic , pronounced (el-la) with stress on the L
ela = disease,sickness+reason, cause; spelled (عله) in Arabic, and pronounced (e-la), [the e in this word does not exist in English, so im sorry u may not note the difference between this eg. & the previous one] .
illah/ ellah = God .. as in God of seas, God of Love .. etc ..; spelled (إله) in Arabic, and pronounced (e-lah) .
so probaby if u know the spelling of the word ur looking for its meaning in Arabic then maybe we can help u more .. or maybe u can simply choose the appropriate meaning according to what u have heard/read ..
