Leinart did win the Heisman in 2004 (as others have mentioned), but he was not put on the cover of the game because he was still going to be playing college football the following year. To put Matt Leinart on the cover of that game while still in college is messing with the "amateurism" of college football (if there really is such a thing). On NCAA Football, March Madness, 2K7 type games, you will see pictures of athletes who have already left college sports. On NCAA Football 2006, Desmond Howard was on the cover because no real headline names left that year. So, since they were introducing the Heisman mode, it made sense to use one of the more famous pictures of a player doing the Heisman pose.

The cover of NCAA 06 was Desmond Howard and he was the Heisman Winner in 1991. EA Sports put him on the cover to highlight their new "Heisman Mode". Matt Leinart won the 2004 Heisman Trophy, but he never appeared on the cover of the game.

Matt Lienhart from USC won in 2004. Desmond Howard is on the Cover of NCAA '06 because that is the famous Heisman pose. It is on all kinds of highlight reels so its a pretty famous picture.

Vince youthful would have gained it. He unmarried handedly gained the nationwide Championship himself that 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. Reggie Bush gained the Heisman that 3 hundred and sixty 5 days yet choked in the nationwide Championship at the same time as it counted optimal. Plus he done on a series with 3x more beneficial understanding than Vince had at Texas.
