Murad. I use the clarifying cleanser, toner & face perfecting lotion. It's pricey but well worth it! You barely have to use any of it...a small amount certainly goes a lonnnnnng way! Each time I only have to use no more than a dime size of the cleanser & lotion. You can find it all at www.murad.com OR at any Bath & Body Works. It has to be a flagship store though, they're the only ones who carry that line. You can use the store locator to find one near you www.bathandbodyworks.com. Murad & BBW have the same prices.

I've suffered from acne & oily skin since about her age (& still do!) & I've tried just about EVERYTHING....including using ProActive & going to a dermatologist. So far nothing has worked (even the proactive & stuff from the dermatologist!) except for the Murad products OR this regimen that I heard about on this website. Some guy had a similar problem & he had actually found something that worked. Go to www.acne.org & check it out. I read about it, tried it out & found the Purpose cleansing bar, Clean & Clear Persa Gel 10 & Neutrogena face lotion to work the BEST out of all recommended products on there. A little goes a long way with that lotion, trust me....if she goes with that then tell her she doesn't have to use a whole lot at a time.

As someone who has had skin problems since I was 13, I think I can speak with some authority. Several conditions contribute to acne: hormones, natural oiliness of the skin, and bacteria. I have oily skin, and at 55 still have breakouts. Cleansing creams make my skin break out worse. I used to use a standard 10% benzoil peroxide cream, but with age it is too harsh. So, I currently use Clearasil Ultra. It's the same formulation, but with extra ingredients that make it less harsh.

Perhaps the best anti-acne product is Proactive, but the price is fairly high, and so I've never tried it. However, their website gives excellent info on the causes of acne. Click on About Acne for that info.

That's really dependent on your daughters skin type and type of acne. That's why there are so many products out there, not everything works for everybody. It may take trying a couple of different product lines before finding one that works for her. My 15 year old neice uses melaleuca's acne system on her face and it works well for her. My 15 year old son tried it and it was too much for his skin. He now uses philosophy's acne cleanser with great success. I also use philosophy and like the results. With any acne treatment remeber that gentle, consistent use is best and that it takes about a month to effectively see results. Try to avoid things that dry the skin out too much, your body will try to compensate.

The best product I have ever used is called acne gel from Mary Kay. I am in my thirties and have real bad acne. I use that a few times a day, and within a day or so, it is dried up.

Your best bet is probably proactive. But if its not a lot then its just normal for teenagers to get a little acne. The Noexema products work good, and dermatologists say that Cetaphil is very good.

From my experience I recommend L'Bri.

It is made from aloe vera barbadensis and is very natural and will clear up the acne and will not dry out your child's skin.

I have used it for the past 7 years and it is a wonderful line of products. I think the formal name is L'Bri Pure & Natural

oh and DO NOT put rubbing alcohol on her face. that will cause more damage in the big picture.

Hi- you have received a lot of advice on anti-acne products- my two cents is to make sure she also uses a moisturizer every day after washing her face. If you don't moisturize, your skin produces more oils to make up for it, and causes more zits.

Also- i had acne when I was 12 and 13 and i sure wish my mom had spent some time to figure out how to help. She thought that if i used hot water and regular soap, it would be fine, even though that made it worse, of course. best of luck!

ProActiv has worked really well for me. I've been using it for five years now. I wish that it had come out when I was 12, because I used Retin-A, and it just made the redness worse. ProActiv is pretty reasonably priced as well and it's available in most malls now as well as through the mail. I hope this helps!

There are a lot of products out there. But because she is so young, you need be careful that she uses something gentle enough on her skin.

I have added a link. There a few options here that will really help her especially since she is in that puberty stage.
