Why do teachers pick on students that they think are stupid?

by this I mean, there's one specific student they all watch over because they think he/she is a suicide...and that person has told them they just want privacy. So can you tell me what you think of this, pretty please?

As was said why do you think suicidal and stupid are interchangeable? Next they are trying to HELP that student. Stop acting suicidal if you want privacy. Show them some attention and you control the amount of information they have. They get the attention and you get privacy in the form that they still know nothing.

That student may just want privacy, or they may actually be suicidal and not want to be helped.

I think that after Columbine, the educators in this country are more sensitive to this sort of behavior, and as you've pointed out that's not always a good thing. But if that student is suicidal and can be helped, then they need to keep it up. They have no way of knowing whether they are or not.

because maybe if the students catch on and know that they will be picked on they will pay attention and study, then they wont be stupid, they could answer the question. the teachers are giving them a chance to learn. and students cant ask for privacy if a teacher asks them a question, that kid needs to take his/her head out of her behind and face it, hmm im at school maybe i should learn something. theres a thought.

I don't think it's a matter of being picked on.

Most teachers want to help children to learn and the slower student stands out as needing more help than the others.

Teachers want all their students to achieve certain goals. They set out challenges to certain ones, to have them try to meet them and do well.

When a child doesn't understand, he/she falls behind and needs extra help. Teachers are trained to see this, and it's their job to offset the child that needs extra help.

Kids feel picked on because they know their failings, and rather than being encouraged by the attention, they take insult because of factors such as poor up bringing.

Kids should take advantage of the extra push and enjoy the attention.

They don't pick on them, they're just concerned. The quiet kids are sometimes the ones that have social problems. Picking on them is nothing more than a form of tough love.

A lot of times, the teachers are trying to embarrass them to improve themselves and do better... been there, went through it...

What does being suicidal have to do with being stupid?

    This question is confusing.

probably because they were picked on by those same types of kids when they were in school.
