Nicotine has a half-life of 2 hours. So, after 2 hours, there will be half as much in your system. 2 hours later there will be half that amount.

You get addicted to high levels - and want to reach that high again and again. Initial levels are no longer sufficient, so you get the urge quicker over time.

The body can normally excrete all nicotine within 24 hours.

The current medical claim is about ten days.

If quitting smoking "cold turkey," it takes ten days to overcome the physical addiction. Then the rest of your life is avoiding reverting to the crutch.
