James Madison (March 16, 1751 – June 28, 1836), an American politician and fourth President of the United States of America (1809–1817), was one of the most influential Founders of the United States. More than anyone he designed the new Constitution of 1787, and is known as the "Father of the Constitution."

There is no "Father of the US Constitution" there are fathers. In 1787 forty men gathered in Philadelphia to write the Constitution. Later five more arrived bringing the total to forty five.

First and foremost was George Washington who was made the President or Chairman of the Convention. Benjamin Franklin and John Dickinson were there as advisers. Also present were Alexander Hamilton and James Madison just to name a few. For most it is claimed that James Madison had the most to do with our Constitution.
