I believe that Apple uses proprietary hardware in their systems, which would make building one from normal parts suppliers difficult, if not impossible.

Inside every Mac Pro resides two new Dual-Core Intel Xeon “Woodcrest” processors. Running at up to 3GHz, they bring industry-leading, 64-bit, quad-core performance to every Mac Pro.

    You can't do that

Apple customizes all their parts from the motherboard to the RAM.

if you want a part from them

you have to get it from them

that is another thing i dislike about Apple.
