Mayweather Sr. is he worth 2 million? Should he be fired?

Just read in an article that Floyd Sr. said 1/2 mil was "chits and bits." Three points:

1) He must have forgotten he is a well compensated employee of De La Hoya. He has already made millions with Oscar.

2) His character must be questioned. Regardless of his relationship with PBF, How can you train a man with all your conviction when the result could be injuring your son seriously, however remote that possibility is.

3) More importantly he is already a distraction. Enough said.

Take what I've just said into consideration and give your opinions, fans of the sweet science.

Update:

He is overrated as a trainer.

I completely agree with you. It's the reason why De la Hoya didn't retain his services.

Just because he made alot of money from De La Hoya does NOT mean he should be shorted. The result of PBF being possibly hurt is no worse than that possible result of Sr. starting Jr. in the first place. Also, I see no distraction. OK, on to my point, the fight will LOSE at LEAST 2 million if Sr is not De La Hoya's trainer. I am a huge boxing fan alright? BUT, I can't be blowing $50 to see any fight. De La Hoya has never amazed me. What draws me is Jr. and his unc' Roger, VS daddy and one of the best (and bigger) fighters of the world at a step up weight of 154. I'd pay to see the family twist to it. I would not pay just to see De La Hoya v Mayweather alone. I can see a free replay, or watch it youtube style for free also. I may go to a bar at the Mall of America that plays it too... also free. If the sucka wants the money... give me a reason to pay it. Now don't get me wrong, it'll be a great fight. BUT, the 1.5 million price tag (Sr.'s 500,000 vs 2m demand = 1.5m) is nothing compared to all of the "me"'s who would actually PAY the money to see it. Is the price steep? Ofcourse it is, but the pay off is much better. Maybe De La Hoya is SO into promotion that he is understanding it is smart to be so selfish monitarily ala DKP. Why pay someone else money when you can keep it? And lastly, what the Hell does the extra $1,500,000 to De La Hoya?

Im one of the few of the other opinion, i think he should pay Mayweather Sr the money he wants, i know its a lot of money but when you look at what kind of percentage it is gonna be out of his purse for this mega fight 2 Million is absolutely peanuts, i would say he obviously knows that Floyd Sr is the man to train him or he wouldnt of asked him, and the bit about distraction shouldnt come into it yet as training camp hasnt started yet, as long as Oscar can get this sorted out in the next few weeks it shouldnt be a problem.

I also agree that he is overrated as a trainer but he has worked wonders with Oscar, he looks like a completely rejuvenated fighter and for that reason i think he should stick with him.

Floyd Sr will not train Dela Hoya for the PBF fight. If dela Hoya wants to win, he should get a different trainer just for this fight.

Mayweather Sr. is an excellent trainer, but HELL NO he is not worth $2 million. Oscar would be a fool to give him that kind of money. I personally dont think he needs him to win really.

Mayweather Sr. is not worth for 2 million to trained oscar because blood is thicker than water! how could you train a man that will kill your own blood even oscar paid him 5 million plus he could not think properly and cant focus on the fight because his son is involved here. beating his son in the hands of others and being part of that is really painful . it a right decision for the golden boy to replaced mayweather sr.

hell nah he aint worth 2 million... hes overrated in my opinion aswell, i also read that a lot of other trainers are willing to take the job for the 500,000 that de la hoya is offering

i know thats alot of money but the "standard" pay rate for a trainer is 10% and oscar is expected to make more than $20 million so in reality he isn't asking for more than the standard pay rate.

look how far he has taken oscar. oscar can pay the 2 millionn and not loose any sleep,he may not be worht it but oscar can afford it..pay the man.
