Hi sweetie, I raised 5 girls and 2 boys, As my daughters got older times changed it got scarier by the year. (it seemed) The times got harder to trust whats out there. Not the daughters, altho they were different in their own lttle way. Times got harder less trusting of what the younger ones come in contact with verses the older ones in back times. The best thing you can do is have a talk with them heart to heart. And I agree totally with the doing the chores. showing responsility, show it to be that they can trust your judgement. That is so important. Good luck this is a hard one. I am sure it is to protect you. It is so dangerous. Hang in there. answers will happen.

If you haven't done anything to make them loose your trust, they are afraid that you may can't take care of your-self. Either that or it's just plain favoritism toward your brother. You should sit them down and have a firm but not to firm talk with them. Let them know that you are a big girl now. In so many words tell them you are ready to take responsibility by being responsible in every thing you do every step of the way, O,K...GOOD LUCK......

some parents go a little over board with trying to protect their little girls. they see that the world is a much different place then when they were young and they see the horrible things that happen to young ladies on the news now. it is scary for them. the only way they know to protect the ones they love is to put certain restrictions on the daughters. for some reasons they think the boys are immune to dangers....it is unfair...but sometimes necessary.

Ask them to explain why they allow your brother to go out and not you. It may help you understand their thinking. It may even help them understand their double-standard (if there is one). You have to prove to your parents that you can be responsible. So make sure you're doing everything they ask (homework, chores, following all their rules). Hopefully, by being responsible they will see that they can trust you more.

It sounds to me like you are 16 or younger. If that is the case

then it is only that they are protecting you. You have a full life ahead of you. If you remain patient things will change. Do things

to show that you are mature. Like look in sunday paper act interested in it. act like your reading a mature book like the

encyclopedia or something that is factual, while they are watching t.v. Find mature topics to bring up in discussions.

    good luck, good luck,

It's not YOU they don't trust....it's the boys out there that want to sleep with you that they do not trust. By the way, tell them exactly how you feel, that their double standard is not only unfair, but makes them look sexist.

Remind them that they will be old some day and you will be the one picking out which old folks home they will go to!! LOL

are you a girl? if so they tend to be more protective of you. its human nature to be protective of girls even at this age whereby both genders are equal.

gain their trust. maybe, say, you promise to come home at sometime (curfew?) and stick to your promise. this would show your parents that you are more matured and has responsibility on things you do, which will assure them that you can go out alone. :) all the best!

the problem isn't you, they don't trust all the creeps out there to keep their hands off you. at least thats how my grandma put it to me when my brother was allowed out while i had to stay in.
