Should we continue to abstain from sex, and if so, how?

We are in our early 20's and have been faithfully together 2 years.

Our intentions are to wait until marriage.

Lately, it has become overwhelmingly difficult to abstain, quite possibly because we are seperated by some distance temporarily, and become that much more eager when we see each other.

What do you guys think?

I think that abstinence--- while it is the only truely 98.999% effective contraceptive-- it isn't contraception.

ok what u guys need to do is stop listening to idiots with large ears and go talk to your friendly doctor. they'll explain the basics of contraception which, unfortunately, seems likely to be banned from teaching in schools. insanity. talk about the stupidest thing anybody can ever do. ok well the fact that the pope is agains condoms is pretty bad. and points out some major stupidity... ok at any rate... (oh and yes I am a devout christian. not roman. but christian yes), sooo... basically it's time for you guys to have some sex-ed.

    toodle-pip.

Source(s): oh and I'm a teenager. I have NO intention of abstaining from sex untill marriage. sorry... that's kinda wierd... you guys are in like... hum... a 1-2% of the population bracket... of people who didn't have sex before marriage... just to point this out. it's very wierd not to...

Congratulations on your achievement so far.

It is worth the wait, and yes it will make for a great honey moon but you will also have the satisfaction of knowing you could control your selves.

There is not a lot of self control left in the world, and if you can do this, then I think you will make a go of the marriage. You will have done one really hard thing and when the going gets tough in your marriage, and don't let anyone say it won't, then you will have the strength you have gained from this to help you through.

Trust me I know, I have been married to the same person for 34 years.

This reminds me of the standard that society held women to during the 20's and 30's, but even then it failed drastically. Unless you have a real significance for this I can't see any benefit. I mean, it is not like you'll be tossed aside as damaged goods and never get married or have a meaningful relationship again. You aren't going to get extra points because you waited, so if you have a religous significance then fine; other than that I can't see why you'd be doing this or expecting this of yourselves.

Source(s): BTW : If this is truly an important decision for you to make, then I doubt if you want to make that decision based on a popularity contest; such as, this place ( a group of strangers).

I think you should wait. You made that decision together, now stick to it. It will serve you better in the long run in the future to learn how to deal with this and handle it. As to how? Do what everyone else does. Masturbate, don't spend so much time alone, so you won't be so tempted... I don't know, believe me I never had that problem. Just realize, it will be a good thing in the end. And you will have a wonderful honeymoon. :)

If you have been together 2 years I think that is a long enough courtship to know whether you want to spend the rest of your life together. I say get married NOW.

just wait. I truly believe with all my heart your sex life together beginning when you are married will be so wonderful for the both of you and that your relationship will prosper. Be strong and don't give into worldly views... you will be blessed. Hold out. You be strong and have the kind of marriage most dream to have.
