When you hire someone under car driving age to watch your children are you to pick them up?

Or do you leave it up to them to find their own ride..I thought it was common curtesy to pick them up but my husband says its up to them to find a ride.

It would be best to ask them if they need a ride or if you need to come and pick them up when you call them for the job originally. Each situation is a little diffrent.

Pick up and drop off back at home, or give them enough money over their earned rate to get home in a taxi (with a tip for the cabbie). Then make sure to have them call you when they return home so you know they got home safely. Never send them home on a bus or metro after dark. Cough up the extra dough for a cab.

Well I would want whoever was watching somthing as important as my kids to be in a nice possative mind set while doing the job... And hell, if all that takes is a quick ride, and maybe some munchies, then it's a no brainer.. Making the sitter feel like you care for them as much as u hope they will care for your lil ones will go a loooooong way!!!!

You are under no obligation to give them a ride. They are taking a job and should find their own transportation, unless arranged with you beforehand.

That being said, if you are able to pick up your sitter, it would be a nice thing to do.

  • If they asked for the job they need to find there own job. If you hired them they should still start learning responsablity to find there own ride. But if it is impossible and the babysitter really needs the money then I would be nice enough to pick them up.

No. When I was in high school I babysat for a family that lived down the street from me. They always came to pick me up and they would always drive me home. However, in today's society and people being the way they are, I wouldn't have your husband drive the babysitter home. You should probably drive her home. You just never know. ;)

I used to babysit and usually my parents would drop me off and the kids' parents would bring me home, but they always offered a ride both ways.

If they can't drive, you should provide them with safe transport to your house and back home again. What does it say about you if you would entrust your children to this sitter, but won't provide safe and convenient transportation to someone who is another parent's child?

I think it's their responsibility to already have a ride arranged if they say they are going to babysit for you, but you can offer if you like
