    i heard the story that if you made a thousand paper cranes a wish you make will come true. there was a chinese girl with cancer a while ago and she got up to about 900 cranes before she died, so children all over the world started making cranes in her honor.

    because cranes in Chinese culture is considered to be highly respected animal and altruistic. having association with crane thus can bring good luck.
