As an electron falls to a lower energy level it releases (gives off) energy (most often in the form of light).
As such, the potential energy of the electron is also lowered.
Interestingly enough, when an electron does fall to a lower level, and give off that energy in the form of light, the light that is released is specific to the movement in energy levels and the element that it is a part of. Therefore, the light given off is different in for each element. Based on this all elements will give off different colors of light. This is why astronomers can say that a star is made of x% of carbon, y% of hydrogen, etc...by examing the light waves that the star is giving off.

What genuinely each and every man or woman has reported so a procedures, that the electron has to emit, or radiate a photon is ideal, so a procedures as that is going. regardless of the indisputable fact that, i imagine you've been also asking, how is it conceivable in any respect. the reply is that the electron first has to attain ability and be boosted to a larger orbital (ability aspect). it isn't conceivable, so a procedures as i recognize, for an electron to radiate or emit a photon with out having first received the flexibility. Electrons do not drop below their unique ability stages. i think that if an atom became very really ionized, that's, if the outermost ability aspect (orbital) became thoroughly stripped of electrons, and then a number of those in a decrease lever were also bumped off, one from the outer aspect might want to go back first and fill interior the gap of one from the decrease aspect. yet electrons are all meant to be same and interchangeable, besides. playstation , we do not really recognize even if all electrons are same and interchangeable; that's basically an assumption that we make with the intention to manage to finish calculations for electric powered engineering. we've not measured all of them. so a procedures, no man or woman has talked about any discrepancies.
