iPod Shuffle does nothing when we plug it in. HELP!?

We have an iPod Nano and it works great. Do I need to set up a new user or something? we havnet had to do that on any other computer we've had the nano on. What should we do?? We've done all the trouble shooting we could do.

    Could be defective. Call the nearest Apple store and bring it to a tech.
