According to Shakspere you are an actor, All the world's a stage and the men and women mearly players. You have a happy face when you are sad, that is acting. The best way to become a paid actor which is what I think you're really asking, is to start acting on a stage. You can learn more about the craft of acting by doing one play than you can in two years at some college.

By all means take all the classes you can but do a play also at the same time. The true craft of acting is in live theartre. Film lets you do one or two minutes a day with 14 hours of waiting around. A play lets you sink yourself into a role for two hours a night.

Don't worry about going to LA to make it. There are about 100,000 actors in LA in screen actors guild. 5% of them are working only about 2% make a full time living at it.

Act anywhere because the people that may be interested in you just might have a summer house in the little town that you live in.

The point is that if you want to be an actor, so start acting in everything that you can, and work on becoming a triple threat. Dancing/singing/acting. E.G. Catherine zeta Jones, Queen Latifa, Beyonce, Richard Gere, because parts are few and the more things you do, the better your chances of getting a role.

Don't limit yourself to just that, take fencing, horseback riding, art lessons, learn to write. Anything you do now will someday come in handy in more ways than you can ever imagine. Break a leg.

The same way you become anything else - learn the craft. Study with acting teachers and coaches. Watch other actors work on their performances.

But mostly, just act. Act every chance you get. We all learn best by doing, so if you want to be an actor, then act, no matter how big or small a particular performance or production seems.
