In what well known sci-fi movie does the author make his only cameo appearance, and what is the scene?

Here are a few clues (if you need them):

Movie is about a biological hazard, and it's based on the author's first book.

The author stands 6'9" tall, so he was unable to be seen in the foreground.

Easy or medium challenge, but 10 points go to the first correct answer!

I would guess Michael Crichton and The Andromeda Strain.

Michael Crichton makes a cameo appearance in a non-speaking role during the scene where Dr. Hall is told to break scrub because he has to report to Wildfire.
