Is Randy Johnson getting traded to ARI? What say you about Big Unit's future?

I'm a DBacks fan and have heard rumors of him coming back to us. However, San Diego and the Rangers also appear to be in the mix. Where will Randy Johnson go? Will he remain a Yank? Will he retire? Let me know what you think.

    I think that next season, Randy Johnson will either be a Yankee or a Diamondback. He has a full no trade clause and he would be more willing to wave it for the Diamondbacks than he would any other team. An official with important knowledge said that there was a 65% chance he would be traded but that was before the Giants picked up Zito. With no other big options available on the free agent market, that percentage drops to about 50%.

    If the Yankees do trade him they would still have a rotation with Wang, Mussina, Pettite, Igawa, and Pavano. Since this rotation would still be decent, I could still see this going through for Arizona.

    Will he retire? I hope not and I don't think so, he has 280 wins. Just 20 more and he joins an elite group of 300 game winners, not that he isn't already in a very elite group. His velocity is falling but he's got two good years left in him.

    As of right now, I say no. I think the New York papers are feeding off of each other in their rumor mongering. They all say the same thing.. the deal appears to be done, and the only thing that really needs to be done now is argue over the amount of money that the Yankees will cover, and on an extension.

    If the Diamondbacks DO give up what the Yankees are asking for, they will certainly regret it. Johnson sported a 5.00 ERA after the all-star break last year, is a year older, and has lost command of his slider. He is not the dominant pitcher he was three years ago.

    I think he will stay a Yankee for next season and then retire at the end of the 07' year. He may sign a one year deal somewhere but I just don't see him being able to pitch that much longer.r

    i does no longer be shocked to be sure the Giants %. up the two Beltre or Crede next. there are maximum of variables whilst it comprises this team. Take Matt Cain, the guy had a three.50 era and nevertheless lost 15 video games, now in the event that they are able to get this guy run help then he's able to prevailing 20 video games. and then there is Zito, if he some how can locate his groove back he might desire to win 15 video games. Jonathan Sanchez additionally has the expertise to win video games and we already comprehend Randy and Tim will do there job. They have been given a extra robust bullpen, a shown nearer, and a few good veterans in Winn, Rowand, Molina, Renteria and if Lewis and Sandoval enhance on final season they might have a especially good line up there, yet they nevertheless lack potential. On paper this team can compete for the susceptible west yet all of us comprehend that on paper do no longer propose something.

    It would seem he's pretty much finished as a Yankee and will wind up his career in a different uniform. George Steinbrenner has pretty much made up his mind that Johnson will be traded and when George decides on something - well, you know what happens. It's just a matter of someone putting together the right package for him. And, I'm sure he'd love to go back to Arizona since he lives there.

    From what I read in the NY papers a deal is very close to being brokered for Johnson to return to the D'Backs. The only thing hanging it up is a renegotiated contract for Johnson so that the D'Backs doen't have to lay out the 16 Million due to him this year. Arizona is trying to get him to re-up for 2 or 3 years to lightem the load.

    I sincerely hope he gets out of NY............I think Randy has seen better days and none of them since he's been with the Yankees.......Whether he's unhappy here or just doesn't have what it takes any more could well be a toss up........As a Diamond Back he was fantastic and as a Yankee hyped to the hilt but as far as I'm concerned he didn't live up to the hype at all.......CAT

    I don't know what the theme is with Clemens and Johnson, trying to get every baseball season they can out of their old age. They both have monster stats, world series wins, AL & NL experience, etc. They should retire, in my opinion.

    When he was a Mariner ... he was awesome;

    When he was Diamondback he was even greater;

    When he was a Yankee he sucked.

    THEREFORE, George Steinbrenner is a meat grinder!

    Be nice to see the Unit retire as a Diamondback, or a Mariner ... (anywhere West of the Mississippi).

    I think Randy Johnson is done; so is Roger Clements

    both should just retire because they suck

    I think he goes to Arizona and signs an extension for 1 more year, then he will retirre.
