Has anybody tried Webroot Spysweeper with Antivirus?

I have Norton Antivirus and Webroot Spysweeper. My spysweeper subscription is up soon and webroot has a version with antivirus on it. I can't stand Norton. Has anybody tried Spysweeper with Antivirus? How much would you trust Spysweeper with an antivirus?

Update:

I just want to reiterate that I already have spysweeper and love it. I'm just concerned about and questioning the version that includes an antivirus, plus the spyware sweep.

Webroot SpySweeper is an excellent anti-spyware. However the version with the anti-virus doe not have the excellent rep of SS.

Webroot does not produce their own anti-virus "in house". They contract with another company (I believe Sophos, but I may be mistaken) and this anti-virus has only average virus detection rates at best.

I would stay away from this packaged solution.

There are plenty of good and free antivirus apps if you don't like your NAV. Both Avria Anti-Vir and AOL Active Virus Shield are excellent. I have used them both and honestly both are better then 90% of the "pay" solutions.

If you decide to switch from Norton to another A-V, just be sure and remove Norton COMPLETELY as it can interfere with other A-V apps if not removed in its entirety. Some have found it nessasary to use the special Norton Removal Tool that is availible at the Norton / Symantic website.

    Good luck , have fun.

I had Norton 2002 with no problems. Then when I bought Norton 2004 it kept crashing and I had to reinstall it a half dozen times. Now I have McAfee 2006. I can get Spysweeper for free from my ISP. I've used it in the past with very good results. I'd give them a try.

    Eeek, yes.

    I didn't have a good experience.

It seemed to work for the most part but it pops up every time you start the computer up and it starts to get pretty irritating.

For that reason I just kind of stopped using it.

Norton antivirus works well runs in the background and always seem to update it self

Or even better, get a Mac. No viruses to worry about. Its great

Its runs so smooth, almost never crashes. Cant even remember the last time it crashed. :)

I have a mac and I love it. I wouldn't not go back to windows if it was free.

Norton has some great antivirus protection as well as internet tools that are available at costco or almost any computer or office store.

Norton Internet Security is often Bundled with Norton antivirus.

    Look at...

Staples, Office max, Comp USA should not be hard to find.

    Good luck

Spysweeper is "OK", but Superantispyware is much better, and free for home use.

And, yes, Norton sucks. Go with NOD32 or Kaspersky.

  • Spysweeper hasn't been sued as much as norton and macafee. So i think it is great.
