SANTA COMES FORM ST. NICHOLAS, A BISHOP FROM THE EARLY MIDDLE AGES.
SANTA CLAUS HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE THE 19TH CENTURY.

Santa Clause (as we know him) has actually only been around since the 1920's. He was the invention of the Coca Cola company and has stuck with us as a symbol of the holiday ever since - the power of advertising huh?
The myth of the man who gives presents on Christmas Eve has developed from the story of St Nicholas. The name Santa Clause is effectively a mispronounciation .. say 'Saint Nicholas' quickly and you get 'Sant Niclause' .. a bit faster and Santa Clause appears.
Hope this helps

Since the 4th century.
The Santa Claus story was built around a real man Bishop Niclaus who was beatified, and later canonized as a saint.
He was always doing good for the poor and needyl and after he died; the legend of Saint Nicklaus or Saint Klaus was told. over the years; the name Saint Klaus was corrupted into the name Santa Claus today.
