Why do you become really tired after a large meal?
Such as Thanksgiving Dinner...

With Thanksgiving we usually eat turkey and it contains an amino acid called L-tryptophan, which acts like a very mild sedative, relaxing you and encouraging sleep. Other reason you would become tired after a large meal is that the body's energy resources go toward digesting the large meal and you will become sleepy - some people become chilled as well, since the body's heat is centered on your stomach.

Scientists believe changes in blood glucose level affect brain cells that are linked to being awake and alert, thus the tendency to seek sleep after eating a large meal.
