Verizon Wireless prepaid Cingular?

My friend wants a prepaid phone, and everyone in our area has Verizon wireless. That would mean free calling to them, but $1.00 every day! That is ridiculous! You might as well get a plan. Is there any way in Verizon that you can get some prepaid plan that doesn't cost $1.00 each day? That you can just buy minutes? If not, what other service providers can give you prepaid without daily access fees? What about Cingular?

It all depends on what your friend wants. Depends on how often does he/she talks on phone. If rarely then VirginMobiles are good. They give 10 Cents a minute. But it he talks often and everyone around has Verizon, then should go for that. Cingular could be expensive and could also not get signal well, depending on the area.
