Survival minimum seems to be about 300 gallons but that might be too low. We use far more than that, closer to 100 gallons a day when agriculture and manufacturing is included. Even a shower adds about 20 gallons a day. A toilet uses between 3 and 5 gallons a flush. It all adds up pretty fast, so I am guessing about 4,000 gallons a year in the USA. This sounds very high but the industrial and agriculture eat up a lot of that number. It takes an astounding amount of water to produce a ton of steel.

There is no "how much". We just need to drink it when our body tells us to, like when we are thirsty. Eight glasses of water isn't alwasy right for us, it depends on us to know much our body needs. But to be sure, just keep your throat from drying and you should be fine since if your throat is dry, you don't have enough water.
