If I respect you don't believe in God, why can't you respect that i do?

When an athesist tells me they don't believe in God, i don't stick to the subject, but everytime, in my experence, that an athesist relized i believed in God they could spend weeks bashing my religion. All i ever hear about is how christians don't respect athesists, but what about all the athesists who don't respect christians? Why can't respect work both ways?

I agree! I am a Christian and I am ALWAYS bashed for my beliefs. On one note- let them bash you then! Only God has the right and ability to judge. On another note- I have also (unfortunately) seen many instances of Christians bashing Atheists. Its all a hypocritical jumble. It is a prime example of two-way street.

of route! i believe that for some reason you're offended at God. that's ensuing in a lack of respect. you want to seek your heart. because he's God then He merits your respect. imagine of someone you adore and then imagine about the respect you tutor them and why. God covers all that.

I too am quite disgusted often with the number of people who feel justified in attacking anyone who believes different than they do.

Atheists at this site do it all the time, and so do many Christians.

So, if it happens so often, why do I come to this site? Because there are some people who share such beautiful wisdom here, and they do so with respect toward those who believe differently then them. I learn a lot from these people, and almost nothing from those who attack.

I agree with you: respect should work both ways. The only way anyone might actually understand the truth you have discovered is if you share it with respect. Keep sharing your Christian views; I look forward to reading your answers.

    peace

And how is it that they are not respecting, by telling you about this concept of Christians not respecting them?

Let me try to put it this way... Should those who were ever oppressed or kept as slaves have respected the person who did that to them? Of course not. The same goes for people outside of Christianity, especially in Christian dominated societies who have taken a lot of crap for a long time. Sounds harsh, but like it or not it's history. And in reality considering how it COULD be, if non Christians actually posed a huge backlash, MOST people outside your religion ARE pretty tolerant and just try to go about their life and want to be left alone. If a few bad apples exist, then so be it, it's not like they don't exist in your religion, too many really...and everyone else does get sick of them.

The problem is that many atheists have a grudge against us Christians, and sometimes, they have the right to. These days, you see lukewarm Christians who aren't living the life that they're supposed to. Christianity is rarely practiced right. IT's supposed to be a religion of love, but people have twisted it into something completely different. It can be very frustrating, but just remember that it's our job to model Christ's love, and that God warned us about getting ridiculed. (Tell me about it.)

I respect that you do. You make it sound like religious people never bash Atheists. It seems that you havent been reading many of the questions here on Yahoo Answers.

Well I think you may have just stumbled across the wrong people. There are a lot of good people out there of all religions who respect other people's beliefs.

Put it this way...if YOU were a minority in a culture where the President believed in Zeus, and ZEUS was stamped on the money and there were Zeus bookstores, tv channels, colleges, Zeus missionaries. Where Zeus-based foundations got 2 billion of your tax dollars, Zeus was in the pledge...I'll bet you would take an interest in all things Zeusian.

Because not everyone is as comfortable with differences as you apparently are. Try telling the atheists who bash you that you respect their beliefs, and watch how baffled they become. I suppose they must be so used to being bashed themselves, it becomes a defense mechanism. Just let them know you mean them no harm or conversion, and try to have it leave at that. If that doesn't work, hit them with a random hard blunt object and run.

Because Forest Gump's Mother said, "STUPID IS AS - STUPID DOES!"

    Thanks, RR

P.S. I believe in God...... And....

    (Phi 2:10) That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

(Phi 2:11) And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
