Drawing anime cartoons is a GROUP endeavor, dude. If you think there's like one awesomely talented cat that turns out InuYasha or Bleach or FMA or whatever it is you're into, then you're way off base, because it takes a rather large team of individually competent manga artists to produce a cartoon.

Which brings me to the point, regarding how to draw "manga." As boring and hokey as it sounds, you need to first get your head around drawing REALISTICALLY, especially the human figure. Then worry about stylizing later. Because if you can't draw a decent human figure, then the best thing you'll ever be able to come up with is some $#!T like yugi-oh or team rocket from Chimpokemon. And that just kinda sucks.

So yeah, listen to these other people - practice. Get more reference material thats going to inspire you. Keep working on developing all those cool, neat little manga details. But don't leave out the fundamentals. Do yourself a favor and pick up a book called Drawing the Head and Figure by Jack Hamm. When I was about 12, I picked this book up and thought, "booo-ring." Boy, was I a moronic douchebagg. Coming back upon it some years later, I realize that this book is a powerful tool to help develop a strong, competent foundation in cartooning. So get it. You can even find it online if you're broke or a cheapskate.

You can also find a torrent for the complete collection of the "How to Draw Manga" series - these weigh in at 20 bucks a book, so it would behoove you to track that one down, unless your parents are loaded and you're a spoiled brat. The book on Giant Robo is one of the best I've ever seen.

Good luck to you, and keep drawing!

In response to one of the responses, if the girl can draw and reads anine/manga then she does have a life, ablit a small one, but a life never the less....to the question.....

Practice is all I can think of, i carry a sketch book around and draw people when they unconciously pose at the bus stop and stuff and put them into anime characs, manga scenes, etc. Dont worry is youre not good enough to go pro, it takes time...lol, what do i know? I have no idea, but practice will help

Studying other peoples art will inspire you to make youre art better also, read more manga and watch more anime!

Anime is general manga/anime drawing. Chibi is a specific- the art of drawing the proportions of big heads, eyes, mouths, etc and small bodies, limbs, etc. Anime, however, is the more general, everything and the kitchen sink instructions. I'd suggest that you ask your nephew what kind of anime he wants to draw (fantasy, shoujo, shounen, chibi, and many, many more), and buy a book for that specific type. If he doesn't know what kind he'd like to draw, buy him the anime book. If he wants to draw chibi, buy him the chibi book.

Try http://howtodrawmanga.com . They have free tutorials and you can buy their books and kits from them.

Or, if you don't want to do that, stop by your local library. Look in the Non-Fiction under 745.5 . There should be paper crafts listed there, but they include art books and anime guides.

    Good luck...
