Who is Lilith?

i've seen this several times. Lilith "was" Adam's first wife, but not human. So where in the bible does it say that? Did god create these humanoids? Where are they now? How long did the marriage last? Which one cheated, and who with?

It even gets a mention in "The Lion, the Witch and the wardrobe"

I think it's just been made up.

    Frazier's second ex-wife

    OR

The mythical first wife of Adam who supposedly abandoned him and went off to mate with other semi-human creatures. It's an attempt to reconcile the two creation stories in Genesis, one beginning with Gen. 1:1, the second beginning with Gen 2:4b.

In spite of the earlier mention of Lilith, the only mention of anything close to that is in Isaiah. Which, you may note, is nowhere near Genesis.

Lilith was from the Jewish torah (the Jewish equivalent of Genesis), and was Adam's first wife. She got mad because Adam insisted on being on top during sex (no, not joking, that's the story). Anyway, she got ticked and left. God made Adam a new wife, Eve, after Lilith took off. Lillith was a human, just as Adam and Eve were, she wasn't a monster, just a very opinionated woman.

Lilith is the first wife of Adam according to Medievel Hebrew legend. She refused to submit to Adam and left of her own will.

Some biblical scholars question this as there are two references to Adam having a wife in Genesis (1:27 and 2:23) and therefore question whether Lilith legend may have been rooted in some 'fact' via biblical reference.

Lilith is a female Mesopotamian night demon believed to harm male children. In the Book of Isaiah, Lilith (לִילִית, Standard Hebrew Lilith) is a kind of night-demon or animal, translated as onokentauros in the Septuagint, as lamia "witch" by Hieronymus of Cardia, and as screech owl in the King James Version of the Bible. Lilith also appears as a night demon in the Talmud and Midrash. She is often identified as the mother of all incubi and succubi. Late medieval Jewish legend portrays her as the first wife and equal of Adam. Considering Adam inferior, Lilith left the Garden of Eden of her own free will (Other stories claim Lilith refused to lie under Adam, as she considered that this was too submissive). Adam then bade three angels to find Lilith and bring her back. When Lilith refused, God punished her by commanding that she slay 100 of her children, called Lilin, each day. Lilith is also sometimes considered to be the paramour of Satan - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilith

The Bible doesn't mention Lilith as being the wife of Adam.

You'd have to go back to the Hebrew version of Genesis.

Lilith was the first woman created by God, Eve was a second draft. Lilith refused to be subordinate to Adam, so God cast her out and created a submissive woman.

It's no more made up than any other version of Genesis.

I've never heard about that - the Bible says that Adam's first wife was Eve and there aren't any humanoids mentioned,so I'd assume this was made up.

Lilith is an Indian deity. She was thrown out becuase her nature was to powerful and some egotistical male reason. Since then she has earned a terrible reputation of being compared to that of a demon.

In my religion and in my bible, it says that Eve was Adams first & only wife. Lilith is fiction.
