Ok-are people serious when they profess not to know what you mean?

I mean tonight, its New Years Eve; people are asking "what family game to play?" And people seriously don't know about "table games" where a family sits together and talks and interacts???

It's sad, but true. What with all the technology we possess today, every member of the family has their own means of entertainment and it ends up isolating us from each other. One person is engrossed in their ipod listening to their tunes, Dad is watching football, mom is on the phone with her elderly parents who need help with daily living and different kids are texting their friends to figure out what to do and where to go. Board games have pretty much gone the way of the Edsel. They're fun, if anyone can actually get two or more people to sit down and play them, but we just have too many other distractions today for this to happen.

If we find it difficult to even manage to sit down and have dinner together, I don't hold out much more hope for a family spending the evening playing board games. It's almost a thing of the past.

They'd probably recognize 'board games' better and even those are going out of style because of all the new DVD games.
