Need cat Advice!?

Due to bad weather and a possibly several day long power outage, my parents are going to go to a dog-friendly hotel with their dog, and drop their cat off at our apartment.

We have two cats who are declawed. They have never met my parents' cat. Their cat has not been declawed. All three are adults. Is there ANY advice you have on how we can bring the three together without a massive cat battle?

You may need to segregate the cats at the start. If your parents' cat is in a carrier, leave the cat in the carrier. If possible put the carrier in a spare room the cats don't go in much-- a bathroom, a closet, something like that, and give the new cat a few hours to adjust. Put something that smells of your cats near new cat or in carrier with it so it can "get to know them" a little. Give your cats a towel or something with new cat's scent and let them get used to that. Introduce your cats to new cat while it's still in the carrier and see what reactions are.

If your parents don't have a carrier, use one of yours or at least get a box or something. Don't worry about the cat feeling too confined: cats like small places.

Do you have more than one litter box? That might help, too.

in case you get a cat it somewhat is somewhat below a three hundred and sixty 5 days previous, they probably would be the two spayed or neutered, and a few shelters will comprise that with the adoption cost for youthful cats. A cat on my own, with a window to look out, can do ok in an house. A cat tree is useful for exercising and entertainment, and maximum toys you may get are extremely much less costly. maximum use clumping cat muddle, and scent issues extremely are not often an argument. in case you're worried, then you definately would desire to evaluate an computerized muddle field which sweeps the clumps into an enclosure after use. of course, long haired cats shed the main, yet you may get laying off from short haired cats additionally. familiar brushing and brushing will decrease that to a low point. so a tactics as scratching, maximum cats take ideal away to cardboard scratchers. And cats may well be experienced to not scratch on sofas, and so on. And there are mushy paws which you would be able to conceal your cats claws with which will artwork for countless weeks in the previous they'd desire to get replaced. in case you're extremely worried approximately scratching, maximum shelters would have cats that have already been declawed. Please don't get a cat and then come to a determination to declaw it. comprehend that the extra youthful the cat, the extra turbocharged it somewhat is going to be. So be sure your house is toddler proofed, as your cat will want to get onto and into each and every thing. oftentimes, your vet expenses will run approximately $a hundred/3 hundred and sixty 5 days (vaccinations and verify ups), and nutrition and muddle probably below $25/month. So your substantial preliminary outlays would be adoption expenses, and getting muddle containers, nutrition dishes, in line with risk a cat tree, and a few much less costly toys like bushy mice. If the cat has not been fastened, spaying is extra costly than neutering, and expenses selection from $a hundred-2 hundred, with men below that.

I have been told the best way to introduce cats is by not doing that. I would keep your Moms cat in a seperate room, with the door closed. Your cats will be able to smell your Moms cat, and leave it like that for 3 to 5 days. You will be able to tell if your cats are open or hostile to your Moms cat by then. Give it a try and good luck.

We too had to check into a hotel due to power outages.

We have 4 cats. (all with claws intact)

We ALL (yes the cats too!) stayed at the Coast Plaza for over 2 weeks!

Your parents should inquire about bringing their cat to the hotel, dog friendly hotels are cat friendly too!

If your parents can't bring their cat, then have one of them bring the cat, please let your cats know that another cat is coming, they'll understand. Give your cats lots of comfort * affection so they won't feel unloved with a new cat in the house.

It'll be fine, if YOU are CALM, the CATS will be CALM.

Introduce the smell of the forigen cat first. take a blanket or shirt or something the cat has slept on and give it to your cats to smell and see how they react. leave them with the item for a while until they are used to the smell. Then pick up your cats, or atleast one of them, and let your parents cat wander in. This way your cat will still feel superior but not threatened by the other one.

DO NOT put the clawed cat with the declawed ones thats asking for trouble. buy the cat some toys and catnip and just keep them separate!

Keep the cat from you parents in a different room. Put food water and a shoe box for a litter box in the separate room.

You could go get some cages & put 1 cat in there & keep the other 2 out so they get use to eachother. Same with the other.

keep your cats in the same room and let the other one roam free for 10-15 minuts. then do the same with your cats.

i do that with my kitten black jack and nalla because black jack is a kitten and nalla is an adult. and they dont get along. it works great! trust me on this
