Layering is the answer. You work with those layers and take off as your comfort level changes. By not regulating your body temperature (with these layers) while in the barn for long periods = you may be sweating or cold at different times. Doing that physical work is energy creating. Your body is now accustomed to working fully layered and cannot acclimatize to the house temp & your lowered activity level so now no matter how much more you put on , you feel cold. Only soaking in a hot bath will get you back to normal. Need to work the layers all the time.

Layering clothes is a good idea. Do you have the furnance on? Perhaps your humidity level is incorrect - if it is too high or too low your furnace cannot heat the house properly.

Try closing some vents in some of the rooms you don't use a lot, thereby redirecting the flow of heat into the rooms where the vents are open.

Also, cover all windows with drapes and close them to keep the heat in and cold out.

I'll tell you, the fastest way to warm up that I've discovered is to sit down with a nice rich mug of hot cocoa - not too hot so where you have to sip it, because that takes away the warming effect. Here's how it works - you get a double whammy here. 1) The warmth of the liquid warms you from the inside 2) hot cocoa is loaded with sugar, so it gives your metabolism a jump start. I find it really comforting to sit there cupping a the warm mug of cocoa, occasionally taking a drink.

After you get that cocoa in your system, keep moving around to keep the blood flowing.

I recently purchased slippers that you put in the microwave for three minutes. Once my feet get warmed, I feel warmed all over.

I purchased these online from Walgreens and they are called Spa Socks. Warm up some sweats or a robe heated in the dryer for a few minutes, get a nice hot chocolate or tea or favorite alcohol beverage.

You could also heat a blanket in the dryer and cuddle up in that.

Well if you don't want to turn the heat up try taking a hot shower and then putting on some warm clothes like a sweat suit or some layers of comfy clothing.

Warm up with a bath and something warm to drink and maybe invest in a heated blanket to sit under or a space heater.

A small ceramic heater will work wonders in a bedroom or special part of the house to warm you up.

A hot bath, warm soft clothes, and a small electric space heater so you don't have to run your bill up heating your whole house.

Try wearing simple knit hat. We lose the highest proportion of our body heat through our heads. Like me momma always said "if your feet are cold, put on a hat".

    Try it, it works.

Do you sit around in your shirt sleeves in the house?

    Dress in layers.
