Why do my Yahoo video clips not play?

When I click on a video a window opens--something called Cosmos--then a message appears that it is Done..but no video ever comes up.

    You may need a CODEC. Type in FREE CODECs at Google and see what they have.

    Maybe your computer can't play videos.
