What are some reasons to cancel a party?
I'm (was) having a New Year's party, but only 2 people can come, so I just want to cancel it, but do it nicely.

say you're doing something with the family for New Year

Dont cancel, those must be the 2 people who give a damn. Maybe make bigger plans with those 2, go out to a first night celebration or something. Call them and ask.

Why don't you contact those that can come ,explain the other people already had obligated themselves to other parties. Yet you would still like to spend the evening with them. Then get together and go to dinner or a club.

Tell the truth. Is that what you'd want from them?
Let them suggest alternatives and then do what you'd like. Tell the truth about that, too. It's better in the long run and a good habit to cultivate.

Tell everyone you are not feeling good, or something has come up and you won't be able to continue with the party plans---if they ask you what? Just tell them it's personal.
Happy New Year

just tell your 2 friends that's it's only going to be them...
suggest if they still want to party at your place or should you all hook up for a night on the town as the alternative

Be honest with those two friends and ask them if they would still like to come over or if they have any suggetions for alternative plans you can all do together. Have fun!

Just be honest and say you have cancelled thro lack of interest

since you only have 2 people to tell, then i'd tell them the truth, that you'd rather not have it......good luck.

A major personal tragedy. Such as a death in your immediate family.
