I purchased a detector at Walmart for $45.00 and it works great. I do realize it's limitations though and if I did a lot of traveling I would spend the $300.00 for the Valentine. Car & Driver rated it as the top radar detector money can buy and the closest thing to diplomatic immunity you can have.

Consumer Reports reviews various products. They have reviewed the radar detectors also. Their recommendations will provide you with their "Best Buy" recommendations for product service and pricing. The use of the detectors in your area of operation may be illegal.

The only ones are Escort 8500 and Valentine1. All others are just noise makers. Money well spent either will really work well.

    Valentine 1 or Escort 8500 x50

Too expensive? Ticket+higher insurance is way more.

Cobra makes one. $50.00. Target usually carries them.
